Northstar Online Learning
Northstar Online Learning is a free tool for Highline College students. It helps you learn computer skills.
Here's how it works:
You can take assessments to see what you already know.
The system then shows you what skills you need to improve.
You get lessons that focus on those skills.
You can do the lessons at your own speed.
You can also just do lessons without taking any assessments.
Northstar teaches many topics, including:
How to use a computer
How to use the internet
How to use email
How to use Windows or Mac computers
How to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
How to use Google Docs

Access Northstar Online Learning
ELCAP Students
Log in to Canvas with your username and password.
Look for a course titled Northstar Online Learning. If you don't see it on your Dashboard, you can find it in the Courses section or you can just click this link.
Enter the Northstar Online Learning course and scroll to the bottom of the main page.
Click "Start Program".
On the next page, click "Load Northstar in a new window"

All Students, Faculty and Staff
Go to the Northstar Online Learning course on Canvas by using this link.
Log in to Canvas with your username and password.
After entering the Northstar Online Learning course, scroll to the bottom of the main page.
Click "Start Program".
On the next page, click "Load Northstar in a new window"

Prospective Students
Go to Highline's Northstar Portal.
To take assessments on Northstar without logging in, please enter your first and last name at the bottom of the page, then press continue.
To access lessons on Northstar, you will need to request an invitation. You can do so by clicking "Sign up as a learner" link below the Log In Now button (or click this link).
Check your email for a message from Northstar with instructions for setting up your account and a link for logging in through the Northstar Portal.

Faculty - Using Northstar In Your Course
By default, faculty accounts are Learner accounts and have access to assessments and lessons.
Additionally, Northstar provides classroom curriculum materials to Staff accounts. To request a staff account, please contact techtutor@highline.edu.
